[comp.sys.intel] 386 Add in boards

pcb@usl.usl.edu (Peter C. Bahrs) (11/11/88)

I have a PC Limited 286 (Dell computer) 6-8mhz pc purchased in
February of 1987. This is an older version of what they are selling
now.

I want to upgrade to a 386 processor via an add in board or replacement
mother board.

Has anyone used the intel 386 add in board on this system?

Has anyone used any other 386 upgrade board on this system?

   (with success I hope?)

thanks in advance

Hi. Maybee one of you could answer this :
Can a 80286 be replaced by 80386SX in some smart way ?
By the way : Is V50 a replacement for 80286 ?
(If not then what is a replacement for ?)

I believe the NEC V20, V30 and V40 are equivalent to the 8088, 8086 and
80186 respectively. If a V50 is now available, it would make sense for it
to be 80286- equivalent, but I haven't heard anything to that effect.
