[comp.sys.intel] 386 "errata 21" info requested

john@tifsil.UUCP (John Maline) (02/14/89)

I've seen an ad* for a device to fix the "errata 21" problem with the 80386
processor running with a '387 and DMA in protected mode.

I dimly remember hearing about a design bug admitted by Intel that sounds
like this.

We're evaluating a 386 system and the technical representative says they
don't have this problem. They use "step DX" 386s and Chips & Technology
VLSI support chips.

My questions:
Is this a problem to be concerned about?
Is it fixed in the "step DX" 386s?
Is there some offical Intel notice of the problem that I can use to get
some real answers/action from my vendor?

Please reply by mail. I'll summarize what I get.

Thanks for any help!
