You'll forgive me if this was already discussed I don't getto read news that often and may have missed it. In the past code has been posted here to identify what 80*86 processor a program is running on. I want to update that for the 486 but am not sure how to do it. I spent a good chunk of time looking at the "i486 Microprocessor" book and came up empty. It's easy to tell right after reset but that doesn't help in the general case. Is there some difference (subtle or otherwise) that can be exploited for the purpose of monetary gain or at least telling the two apart? You can post the answer here and I may see it but mail would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- - Joel {psuvax1,sdcrdcf}!burdvax!coltoff (UUCP) coltoff@burdvax.prc.unisys.com (ARPA)
