[comp.sys.intel] Dropped / Shifted Bits w/BELL TECHNOLOGIES ACE card

chan@chansw.UUCP (Jerry H. Chan) (06/20/89)

I am posting this to comp.sys.intel since I am trying to reach a certain
audience at Intel (they just purchased Bell Technologies of CA recently).

I am running Interactive's 386/ix v2.0.1 Unix product w/their Host-Based
TCP/ip v2.0.1 and BELL TECHNOLOGIES's ACE-8 card (8-port async card).
The problem I see when running 'telnet' is that about 1-2% of the characters
transmitted via the BELL card gets its bits shifted / dropped, which is
*unacceptable*. Rlogin seems to work, no problems. TCP/ip is configured to
run w/WD's 8003E Ethernet product. The ACE driver is R2.0.

The current people that I am dealing with has refused to look into this
problem any further, stating that they cannot reproduce this problem on their
Interactive testbed system (their Tech Support dummies^H^H^H^H^H^H^H people
claim that they have tested their drivers w/my configuration, but I have my
doubts). An' I don't think that they like me any more (.snivel.) since they
rarely return my calls... :-( Well, next stop, the Sales Manager... maybe
*he'll* listen :-| . Yeah, that's it :-} .

QUESTION:

Has *anybody* successfully used Bell's ACE product w/Interactive v2.0.1 &
Interactive's Host Based TCP/ip, specifically 'telnet'ing? Has anyone else
out there seen the same failures that I have seen? If you have a similar
setup / failure / success, please E-Mail me - see signature below.

P.S. Do you think it'd help if I purchased a $hare of Intel stock? ;-)
