[comp.sys.intel] Help on Intel 320..

anil@ncst.ernet.in (Anil Garg) (09/11/90)

Hi.

Is there a Unix with TCP/IP (and NFS, if possible) for the Intel
System 320? Any pointers are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Yes there is, available from Intel, Product code TCP32 and NFS32.

It's my understanding that the network card in the Intel 320 system is the
sbc552A (the 320 is a Multibus I system). The Intel product catalog states
that the TCP32 and NFS32 products, as mentioned by Mickey Smith above, only
support the 'PC' platform UNIX and 'PC' type network cards (specifically the
Intel PC586, 3COM 3C501 and 3C503, and the WD8003E).

Intel sells 3 versions of UNIX V 386...
SYSTEMV386I for Multibus I systems (this is the one for the 320)
   SYSTEMV386II for Multibus II systems
UNX32...(many part #s) for 'AT BUS' systems

It appears that the TCP32 and NFS32 products will NOT work in the 320 version
of UNIX.

I have been told that CMC(Network Sciences), or Wollengong may have TCPIP
products for MBI UNIX...I'm sorry I don't have more information about the
companies or the products...

The TCP32 and NFS32 products do in fact work with the SBC 552A board in
a MultiBus I systems as well as the SBC 186/530 in a MultiBus II system.
Each requires that the system be running UNIX V/386 R3.2.2. The transport
software that is downloaded to these boards at boot time
allows the TCP stack to access an exposed data link on the communications
board. This is a new feature, and was not supported previous to the last
release of iNA960 transport service provider.
