[comp.sys.intel] i960 Ci vs. Ca

greg@sif.claremont.edu (Tigger) (05/02/91)

I was just reading an article about the new HP 700/RX series of X terminals,
which use the i960. In fact, according to the article, they use two
different versions of the i960. The low-end models use a "20 MHz Intel
80960Ci" and the high-end use a "25 MHz Intel 80960Ca." Can some kind
soul tell me what the difference is between the Ci and the Ca versions?
For that matter, would someone like to clue me in on the differences between
the i860 and the i960? Is the i960 just an update of the i860 (in the
sense that the i486 is an update of the i386)? Or are they a completely
different architechure?

Please send any replies directly to me, as I don't generally read this
group. I'll be happy to summarize to the net if there is any interest.
