[comp.sys.intel] Average cycles per instruction on *86

rhl@computing-maths.cardiff.ac.uk (Robert Hartill) (06/17/91)

I read somewhere that the in an average piece of 386 code, an instruction
requires 4.5 clock cycles.
Not sure what 'average' is supposed to mean.

How many clock cycles for a '186 or '286.

It's the protected mode average clock cycles '286 and '386 that I need.

thanks in advance,
