I would like to set up ftp on my IBM Xenix 2.00 box. The ftp the comes with the Operating Systems Extensions might work except for the fact that my connections are not over a modem or a permanent connection, but over an Ethernet. The basic problem I have is this: 1) before I do anything I have to send a control character to wake up the network. 2) once this has been accomplished, I have to send the network a command of the form connect *machine where connect can be abbreviated as anything from c on, and machine is, of course, the machine name. 3) this would get me to a login prompt, so everything would be fine until the session was over, when I need to do the following: 4) send a sequence of control characters to disconnect from the machine, and 5) send a q followed by a return or space to tell the network to go back to sleep so users can log in over that port. Does anyone have any ideas? Note: the address given above should work (I hope). If it doesn't, try genghis!sns@csvax.caltech.edu, and please tell me that sns@genghis.caltech.edu didn't work. If that doesn't work, use ...!seismo!csvax!genghis!sns and please tell me that none of the above worked. Thanks for your help. My cat can quack, can yours? genghis!sns@csvax.Caltech.Edu
