[comp.unix.xenix] compiler bugs

news@jpusa1.UUCP (07/09/87)

In article <199@krebs.acc.virginia.edu> wrp@krebs.UUCP (PUT YOUR NAME HERE) writes:
-With one exception in the compiler,
-Xenix does fine with large models (there is a compiler bug incrementing
-array indices in structures that is easily written around) and mixed model
-programming.

Speaking of this, let's have a list of known compiler bugs made public. We could all benifit.
Anybody have some documented problems to avoid and work arounds they want to share?

-The current version is very good. (Although I too wish I had source code
-for mail and uucp).

One hack I've added is .forward handling for mail. If there's some interest I can mail or post.

I have a question - running an informix application I get the 'inode table overflow' message on the
console. I rebuilt the kernel and doubled the size of the table (no problems yet) but am curious to
what happens to open files at this point. Does the kernel trash the file, return an error, wait for
free inodes, or what?
