[comp.unix.xenix] Running Xenix 2.0 with non-standard disk

hutch@hubcap.UUCP (08/22/87)

I have a non-standard (Priam ID60-AT) disk drive for a 6 MHz
IBM PC/AT. I have patched IBM Xenix 1.0 to run with the drive.
I would like to get IBM Xenix 2.0 to work. /xenix does not
have the table "diskinfo" in its data section. I have not
found an equivalent table.

Could someone please tell me the best way to get Xenix 2.0 to
believe that my drive has 981 cylinders (the ROM BIOS has 855
for type 12)? Patches, if necessary, for the boot programs
would also be appreciated.

It turns out that I was worrying needlessly. Xenix 2.0 apparently
gets its disk info from the partition table on track 0 of the disk (I
am guessing). Since this was already correct, I was able to load
the system using the provided hdinit, without reformatting the disk.
