If you're running SCO vers 2.2, you may be interested in patching your "uucico" to use a window value of 7, which yields much better through-put on a PC-P connection. The first step is to verify that your "uucico" has the right stuff in the right place. After you've said "adb -w /usr/lib/uucp/uucico", found that "adb" wasn't there (it's on the first distrib disk, but you have to mount it and copy it into /bin), and then finally gotten the prized "*" prompt, say: 0x3f:0x4ba2?x He should reply with a value of "3b0". If he does not, then proceed no further; you'll have to find the 0x03b0 value yourself using the "l" command like I did. If you got the right answer back, then you should say: !cp /usr/lib/uucp/uucico /usr/lib/uucp/uucico.old 0x3f:0x4ba2?w 0x07b0 Exit from "adb", and try the sucker out by calling out using "-x9". Notice the first control message; it should be "57" instead of "53". If the other guy has also applied this patch, your second out-going control message will be "77" instead of "73", and you win. Each side which applies this patch will improve throughput for traffic coming in to it; thus, to achieve the best results, patch both ends of the link. Of course, if it doesn't work, you do have the "uucico.old" file to move back into place. "Your milage may vary." -- {allegra clyde!codas decvax!ucf-cs ihnp4!codas killer}!ki4pv!tanner
