About a month ago, I posted some mods to smail 2.5 for use under SCO Xenix System V. At that time, I had gotten the thing to work, but I hadn't cleaned up or commented my changes. Well, I've been cleaning and commenting for about a week now, and I'm finally happy with the result. I've sent the sharchive to Brandon Allbery; it should be appearing in comp.sources.misc within a week. (Unless Brandon has a backlog.) For those of you that have applied my old changes -- USE THE NEW PATCHES INSTEAD. Three reasons for using the _new_ patches: They're commented: You can figure out what I did. They're cleaner: Nothing inconsequential was changed. There's a new feature: Defining MICNET in defs.h makes all mail go through execmail. There is one hitch: if you haven't got Larry Wall's "patch" program, you won't be able to use the new patches. Sorry. (Oh, by the way -- the new patches use the original smail 2.5 sources as a base. What's that? You didn't keep a copy of the original sources? Shame on you!) If you need the patch program, it is available on all good archive servers everywhere. And if you can't find an archive server, try any public-access Unix. -- Chip Salzenberg "chip@ateng.UUCP" or "{codas, uunet}!ateng!chip" A T Engineering My employer's opinions are not mine, but these are.
