[comp.unix.xenix] Wangtek tape-backup driver

raanan@bc-cis.UUCP (Raanan Herrmann) (02/24/88)

We have a Sperry PC/IT computer running Xenix 2.1.3 that comes with
a Wangtek tape drive a controller. We got software from Bell Technologies
that was suppose to let us use the tape under Xenix but as it turns out,
the Bell driver works only with the Emulex tape controller and the controller
that we have. Bell is willing to give me driver for the Wangtek tape only
if it uses the Emulex conroller.
Anybody has the same problems? Anybody has drivers for the above
configuration?

Wangtek support comes built-in in XENIX 2.2 and above. For XENIX 2.1.3, it's
available from SCO as an installation kit with a driver to configure into your
system and a set of utilities. This should be free (or some nominal charge) if
you're under support. If you don't have support, I suppose you could still ask.

I used it while I still had 2.1.3 and it worked just fine.
