Has anyone on the net managed to get GNU Emacs up on SCO Xenix 386?
I don't have a 386 development system yet, and probably won't for some
time, but I'd really like a running copy, along with the auxiliary files.
If so, and you are willing to put the appropriate stuff on a tape or
diskette I send you, please reply by e-mail, mentioning the version of GNU
you are running, and your e-mail and Post Office mail addresses. I can't
do much to return the favour, but do promise to make copies available
to other parties who might be in the same situation.
Thanks in advance,
Neil

I did a quick job of getting it up; it took only an evening to get everything except subprocesses, ptys and unexec running. I never bothered with the remaining stuff, since it took only 30sec to load the lisp subrs in and I generally stayed within Emacs all the time. I wouldn't expect it to be a lot of work to get the rest working for a smoother product, although as it is it's quite usable and very robust. I will forward you the s- and m- include files, which are all you'll really need to get it running.

I am trying to settle in on an editor. My current strategy is to use vi for on the fly work, and brief under vpix for extended work. I like what i've seen of MicroEmacs, but would like more info. about the alternatives. What commercial emacs packages are out there? Do you like what you're seeing? What problems, etc. have you had getting them up and working? I'm running Xenix386 on a PC Ltd. 386 w/5 megs of RAM. Thanks!
