Sorry for the long distribution, but needed to reach as many as possible.
I'll try to keep it brief. Those seeking more details are invited to
email me.
I am looking into unloading my 80386-based PC to move toward workstation
technology for my small engineering business. I'm not posting any price
for the equipment listed below--please email me an offer and we'll discuss
it. If I don't get any serious offers, I won't sell, but will sell (and
fairly quickly) if the right numbers come through.
I prefer to sell as a bundle, but will unbundle the software if requested.
I am the sole, original owner of everything listed and all software was
legally purchased.
Here's the package:
o 20MHz Compaq-compatible 80386 machine in AT-sized case. Base system
includes 2MB of static column RAM, dual serial ports, Hercules-type
mono graphics display adapter, dual floppy/hard disk controller,
1.2MB floppy disk drive.
o Two hard disk drives: 70MB Miniscribe (full height, 28ms access) and
a 40MB NEC (half height, ~50ms access).
o Irwin 40MB tape backup drive with software. It's fast, permits multiple
backups on a single tape and features the most advanced software (EZ-tape)
I've ever seen for a drive. Also includes 4 tapes.
o IBM RT-type 101 key keyboard.
o Paper white phosphor monitor.
o Diskette with speed simulator (makes 20MHz '386 look like 6,8,16 MHz
8086/80286/80386), ROM BIOS relocator (moves it into faster shadow
RAM memory).
o Full SCO Xenix '386 distribution: Operating system, Development system,
Text processing utilities/online manual pages, telebit trailblazer modem
upgrade and remote news.
MDS (Manufacturers Design Systems) is still in business in Utah and cranking
these machines out, mostly to OEM's and systems integrators. They support
the machines well and have a knowledgeable technical staff.
The box is (just barely) a year old and has not given me any trouble since
I bought it. I've been an active member of the Usenet for months with this
system spending most of its time powered up (I gave it occasional weekends
off) and being pounded by megabytes of news per day. The system and the
software have held up perfectly.
