Sounds like a job for .... S .. C .. S .. I   !!!

I believe that such devices (not including IOMEGA) are available
as SCSI devices.  Additional drivers should not be necessary, although
I urge you to somehow test the configuration before you obligate your
self to the purchase (at least of the drive).

The following is biased and commercial in nature...

Tandy offers a SCSI adapter board and a version of SCO XENIX
which supports it (in fact, can boot from it).

Wether or not you can find a device which both meets your needs
and is SCSI enough to cooperate with the board and driver is
another problem.
