[comp.unix.xenix] DIFFS NEEDED TO COMPILE PCOMM ON SCO XENIX

0rrodrig@teknowledge-vaxc.ARPA (Russ Rodriguez) (10/03/88)

Hello:

I've been struggling with the PCOMM files recently posted to
comp.sources.misc, trying to port them to my SCO XENIX 2.2.1 operating
system. Has anyone with this version of XENIX been able to get the
stuff to work? I'd love to have the diffs so that I can do the same. I
have c-kermit working at this time, but appreciate the flexibility that
PCOMM promises. My profuse "THANKS!!!" in advance.

I have a compiled version of the PCOMM on my bbs @ 714-898-8634. You are more
than welcome to call and download it. As far as the "diffs" are concerned,
I don't have them put I can generate them, if you like, and post them on the
net. The "BIGGEST" modification that you will have to make is the removal of
all of the NULL pointers from the argument strings to the different
subroutines. Also, I have not yet made the modifications to the code so that
it can call out on enabled posts. As soon as time permits, I will do so.
Presently, the code does work (sort of) but only use disabled ports.

Sure, I got Pcomm 1.1 working, without any mods.
It was written for Xenix.

I work with Xenix 2.2.1, 386 version. Maybe you have a 286 machine?
Tell a bit more on what goes wrong.

If someone has, in fact, done these diff's, how about either posting
them to this group or posting info on getting them. My thanks, too.

By using all 4 patches posted by the author, the patch by jbayer, plus
the following makefile, I've had Pcomm1.1 up and running for a couple of
weeks.

Hope this is of some help to the folks on the net using SCO Xenix.

(or it could show as michael_brady or michael_kent_brady instead of
michaelnc. they've just changed our software. Either name will get it to
me).

I meant to add, I still have the 4 patches and the bayer patch, if anyone needs
them. I can repost them, you can check comp.bugs, or I'll be glad to email
any or all parts of them to you.
