[comp.unix.xenix] pursuit and timeout

pete@romed.UUCP (Pete Rourke) (10/21/88)

Has anyone a nice send expect send sequence for PC-Pursuit that will
work in XENIX 2.2.2?

Having migrated my Pursuit from a AT&T and Honey Danburr to the BSD style
of uucp on the XENIX 2.2.2, I find that to my amazement that I can't
get connected even when the NODE IS FREE!! Gosh, what a pain. uucico seems
to want to defeat me as far as timeout. Just after the number echos back
from the remote site, my system waits about 3 seconds and poof <timeout>
and exit.

Clues for the clueless!!?!!

2.3.1 now has HDB, which **may** be available as an upgrade. You can get
the telebit upgrade, which fixes a number of other things and offers the
ability to add delays, etc. You can modify the dial.c (/usr/lib/uucp)
source to handle PCP at that level. You can add some retries to your
char script.

Sorry for the shotgun approach to the problem, I hope that at least one
of these ideas will help.
