Hello: I'm wondering if anyone out there has added a second hard disk to their SCO XENIX 2.2.1 system where the second hard disk is on an IBM PC-XT-type controller card. I'm using such a setup now, where the second hard disk is a PLUS-DEVELOPMENT-SYSTEM Hardcard-20. The mkdev hd command just hangs after I answer the prompt. Any pointers would be helpful. The manual says that xenix wants to have a single controller card, but perhaps there are exceptions? I leave posting the recipe to Dave but basically you have to address the second card to the secondary winchester address and move the interrupt to #15. This is the hard part because althought most of the controllers seem to allow for readdressing, they don't allow the interrupt to be moved, so a minor hardware mod is involved. Anyhow the last I heard he did indeed have four hard disks up and running. The XT probably has a similiar problem with interrupts. But you should also check with SCO to see if they support two XT controllers (they do support two AT controllers). -- Stuart.Lynne@wimsey.bc.ca {ubc-cs,uunet}!van-bc!sl Vancouver,BC,604-937-7532

(The fact that yours is an XT-type doesn't matter) SCO added support for a second controller card in a more recent version, I forget whether it is 2.2.3 or 2.3, but certainly more recent that 2.2.1. SCO added support for a second controller card in 2.3. Jonathan Bayer Intelligent Software Products, Inc. -- life used to be so simple.
