I've just installed the init program from Sanford Zelkowitz's (sp) bbs on my sco 2.2.1 (286) system. I've found that after dialing in on a modem line, I can no longer use that line to dial out using cu. I get "tty??: Is in use", and the only way I've found to get around it is to reboot. Can someone tell what I'm doing wrong here? Doing an 'hd' on etc/utmp shows an entry for a login process (06) on the line in question even after the line is disabled. ungetty has no effect. On another point, I have two modems, one MNP and one normal. The MNP modem has the interface speed locked at 4800 (gettydefs entry is also 4800 *only*), regardless of the speed the caller connects at. The other modem rotates from 1200 to 300 baud. Logins on the MNP modem proceed normally (as they always have). But the other modem now prints garbage for the "password:" prompt after the user has entered his login id. It worked fine with the sco provided init/getty. It looks like something to do with parity generation, but I've tried all the combinations of stty settings in gettydefs with no luck. If you've experienced this before or have any input, please post or mail. Thanks, Roger ------ Roger Cornelius uunet!pdn!jc3b21!rac uunet!sherpa!rac
