Has any tried using any UNIX <--> DOS networking (using primarily DOS type networks, not TCP/IP)? SCO sells Xenix-Net that claims to be compatible with the DOS NetBios and "MS-DOS based MS-NET derivatives". So whats a MS-NET derivative? There is one DOS product, Via-Net from Western Digital I am interested in (there is a hardware product that comes with it). Can Xenix-Net talk to it at a NetBios level? Interactive 386/IX has ViaNet available for it but maybe not on the hardware card I must use (ARCnet). I only need interprocess communications for user developed programs, no "networked DBase III" or the like. Would it be as easy (and faster running code) to skip the ViaNet and go straight to NetBios? Can I get Xenix-Net running or ARCnet hardware? OK, question two. I also want to talk to a VAX/VMS host on DECnet using a 386 type UNIX/Xenix. I have memorys of DECnet running on straight "System V" (not ULTRIX or SUNs) from some company. Anybody know what I'm talking about or better yet used it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
