I am planning on buying an 386 box to run unix at home. I would like to run X windows on it and I am scouting around for some info on hardware and software needed for it. Requirements: - VGA compatible Hi-res(1024x768) card. - 16"-19" multisync monitor to run with that card. - An X11 server for this graphics combination running on a 386 under Interactive Systems Unix or SCO Xenix. Can someone give me an idea of what is available in - public domain (for X servers) - proprietery solutions (Hardware, Software and X) Has any one used such a system before. If yes, then what are your impressions on its performance and memory requirements. Thanks in advance for all your help. - Ashutosh Tiwary Hewlett Packard, Network Measurement Division Santa Rosa, California 95403.
