Hello: I'm about to reformat my hard disk and have backed up my SCO Xenix 2.2.1 system to 10 mb mini cartridge tape (/dev/rctminiv). My question is: 1) From the bootable root-filesystem floppy, with what params do I invoke the 'restor' utility to get the tape to be read back onto my disk? I've lost (maybe never had) the docs for this program. Can anyone offer help? 2) Does anyone out there have the version 2.2.1 manuals that they'd be willing to part with for a modest price? After all, there must be DOZENS of folks upgrading to VP/IX ... Remember to make the bootable root floppy *after* you have totally configured your system to use the cartridge tape, mkdev fd will copy the appropriate /dev's over and will take a copy of your /xenix so the bootable floppy will be able to restore from the tape. -- Stuart.Lynne@wimsey.bc.ca {ubc-cs,uunet}!van-bc!sl Vancouver,BC,604-937-7532

Before reformatting be *sure* you have a tape kernel on the floppy, that you have the tape device on the floppy, that you have /bin/mkdir on the floppy, etc. Run restor with the option to display a table of contents and be sure that after booting from the floppy you can read the tape with restor. Give you half a guess why I'm telling you to do these things ;-) I don't have a manual here, hopefully someone else will give you that info. -- bill davidsen (wedu@ge-crd.arpa) {uunet | philabs}!steinmetz!crdos1!davidsen "Stupidity, like virtue, is its own reward" -me
