[comp.unix.xenix] HoneyDanBer uucp / old uucp problems

romwa@gpu.utcs.toronto.edu (Royal Ontario Museum) (03/21/89)

I've just gotten a new Xenix 386 2.3.1 system up and talking
to an old Xenix 286 2.2.2 system (well, sort of).

I've been able to ship mail about quite easily, but file
transfers via uucp are not working well. Usually, I get this
error message from the uucico log on the HDB system:

user machine (3/20-16:29:57,912,1) IN SEND/SLAVE MODE (INPUT FAILURE)
user machine (3/20-16:29:57,912,1) FAILED (conversation complete)

I've run a session with debugging on and it's the slowest I've
ever seen uucp run over 9600 baud lines.

I have successfully completed transfers between two HDB
systems, though the files were not large. I think I have the
Permissions file correct and I know the connection is ok
because mail usually works.

Can anyone help?
