Hello -- I know that some discussion occurred recently in this newsgroup about bootable root floppy disks, so if you are kind enough to help, please e-mail your response to the address below. I am trying to build a bootable root floppy disk for my SCO XENIX-286 2.2.1 IBM-PC/AT and would like to know: - what purpose do swplo and nswap serve in /etc/default/boot? - if the pipdev and swapdev specifications refer to the floppy disk, do I need to reserve blocks on the disk for these areas? - what does PANICBOOT in /etc/default/boot mean? - I would like to put vi on the floppy, but there does not seem to be enough space (somewhere) to run it. When I boot from the floppy and try to run vi, it comes back with the simple message "Killed". - if I boot off one floppy and have the root file system on another, what files do I need on the boot disk? I have RTFM from one end to another, but I cannot find the answers to these questions. If you could provide some insight, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance, John -- John R.
