[comp.unix.xenix] CTS/RTS handshaking on XENIX V/386 v2.3.1

terry@eecea.eece.ksu.edu (Terry Hull) (04/15/89)

Sorry to bother everyone with this again, but I'm still having some
trouble with handshaking through my TB+. I am not having any problems
with uucp, but when I dial into the system for an interactive session,
I can set ctsflow OK, but when I type stty rtsflow, everything locks
up as if the computer is not getting any input. Yes, I have installed
the RTS/CTS patch from SCO.

Configuration info:
Digiboard 4/S dumb 4-port serial board.
Cable 2-8 and 20 straight through
Modem config
  Interface speed locked at 19200
  Dialing in at 1200 buad
  RTS/CTS enabled (S58=2)
S68=255 (makes modem expect both ends to do same handshaking)

/etc/gettydefs entry:

n # EXTA HUPCL # EXTA CS8 SANE IXON TAB3 ECHOE IXANY # rest of entry

Two other really strange things: I have seen both rtsflow and ctsflow
enabled when doing a uucico to another TB site. I am using the
dialTBIT executable to dial out. (But obviously, it does not have any
affect on my incoming call.) Secondly, if I dial out using XON/XOFF
and then enable RTSFLOW, my machine will stop sending characters to
the serial port. I am lost. Why does RTS/CTS work some time and not
the rest of the time?

Any ideas that you have would be appreciated.
