[comp.unix.xenix] VP/ix mumblings...

shevett@labii.UUCP (Dave Shevett) (05/29/89)

I've recently started pushing my company into installing VP/ix under Xenix
for customers who need to run a DOS application occasionally (we normally
use Xenix for Realworld Accounting systems).

VP/ix seems to be an exceptional product, but only from terminals capable
of supporting scancodes. The question here is, is there an emulation
package available for PC's that can generate scancodes (I mean completely
here - I need to be able to run WordPerfect CORRECTLY).

On a related tack - I've recently installed an Emulex (Persyst) 8 port
serial board in my Wang PC-381 (Xenix 2.3.1, 80386, 4meg, 60 meg hd). The
sucker seems to be running fine, EXCEPT (here's the kicker), VP/ix cannot
switch into the mode it needs - ala, it's having problems supporting a
scancode terminal (in this case, an AT&T 605 and an IBM 3151). Any
suggestions?
