Some students in my course in operating systems have come up with the idea that they will port UNIX BSD4.2 to a locally developed computer with a NS16032 processor as their project assignment (Yes, I know it will take some time !). Does anybody know of any useful additional stuff to read (not contained in BSD4.2) ? Gert Svensson ..!mcvax!enea!ttds!gert

From: Ron Natalie <ron@brl-vgr> You could always peek at National's own 4BSD port to the 16032. -Ron

I'm sure some of you have been involved with an effort to port C or UNIX to a different machine. How difficult is this? Is there a C compiler out there which has been designed to bootstrap easily into a new enviroment? I envision something that requires some sort of minimal C compiler written in the native language to boot a more sophisticated C compiler written in C. Is there any such beast? Thanks. Please airect replies to me as I am not on the list. don
