Hi,
I am in the process of finding out how many people are REALLY
interested in obtaining the software off the uport BBS. Earlier there
were some messages about people wanting the software. I have talked
to Microport about making the software available to those who are interested.
I'm not affiliated with microport except for the fact I'm a happy
customer (please don't equate that to naive), and was a beta customer for
a couple of years. I'm still in contact with the few people that are left
at microport. I want to make the BBS software available to those who want it,
because we all know if uport goes away, so does the BBS. The major problem
is they don't have the people to make the masters etc. That's where I come in.
I've offered to donate my time to make the masters. Here's the scenario:
1. I find out through the net if there is a high enough interest.
(I'd say 20-30 who are willing to place orders for the bbs
software.)
2. If the interest is high enough, I will go to microport and make
the masters off the bbs and give them to uport.
3. MICROPORT SYSTEMS WILL PRODUCE THE DISKS, PROCESS THE ORDERS AND
SHIP THE DISKS.
I've done a preliminary estimate of materials and cost. It looks
like there are 7-8 disks of software and the cost should be around $15-$20
(for disks and shipping&handling).
Now, here's the question are you still interested ?? If you are
interested please e-mail me a message with the subject: uport BBS software.
If there are enough interested parties I will make the masters and post a
message with the details on ordering the software.
