I have a modified version of CU (from Sandy Z's bulletin board) that has: (a) an interface for zmodem; (b) a dialer that works; (c) various other convenience enhancements. This is supplied with a hacked version of zmodem that has several added options including: (a) -F list option to transmit or not transmit files in the named list according to conditions on the host; (b) a half-way intelligent makefile; (c) a half-way intelligent menu function. In experiments involving file transfers between my ATT 6310 and SUN/Vaxen through a complex switching/packet network, I've found CU/zmodem to provide very reliable file transfers with 50 percent less billed timed on the receiving hosts than kermit with 1000 char windows. For copies of the hacked CU and zmodem, make a request to the address in the signature. NOTE THAT THE SIGNATURE ADDRESS IS NOT THE ADDRESS THAT COMES WITH USING THE R COMMAND OF THE MAIL READER. REQUESTS NOT SENT TO THE SIGNATURE ADDRESS WILL BE IGNORED. Also available: arc hacked for sco 286 xenix; bibliofile, a free-form data base for msdos and **ix, and pdtar (xenix <==> msdos) transfers in tar format. Earl H.
