[comp.unix.xenix] Computer Stuff for Sale

mdc@eddie.MIT.EDU (Marty Connor) (07/05/89)

Time to get rid of some stuff (so as to have room for more stuff!)

		For Sale:

2 40 meg disk drives from a Compaq 286
These are fast little drives for Compaqs. "Type 17".
Look like CDCs to me. Asking $300/drive. Make an offer.
I won't even tell you what Compaq charges for these things.

1 ST225 drive.
You know 'em you love 'em you can't live without 'em.
A 20 meg drive. Was using it for an extra filesystem until
	I discovered WREN IIIs. I dunno, $150?

1 Disk Controller for IBM PCs.
WD-1002A-WX1 XT Compatible disk controller. Would work well
with the ST225 drive above (as a matter of fact, DID work well...).
$50? You tell me. Why don't I look it up in PC Shopper. You
	tell me...

1 3.5 inch drive for PC/AT or PC/XT and Compatibles.
3.5 inch floppy drive anyone? Reads and writes 720K floppies.
You know the drill. $50? No? utellme.

1 WD1003A-WA2 Floppy/Winchester Controller.
A Classic. Western Digital (the real deal). For ATs (16 bit card).
	$100? What? Right.

1 Wantek 60 meg cartridge tape drive and Controller.
This is basically one of those 1/4 inch cartridge tape drives.
I've used it with DOS and XENIX, and uses same carts as Sun.
This one is Wantek model number: 5099EN24. I have some DOS software
called SY-TOS, and it is configured to work with SCO-XENIX.
Very reliable drive. Will throw in a couple of cartridges.
$500 or some argument that it is worth less that I believe (and
	it wouldn't take much...).

2 Memory boards, 2.5meg apiece.
Hmm, two.. AMI Elephant-5 Memory boards. I don't have documentation
on these boards, but they are full of 120nanosecond ram chips,
and should be worth something. Lesse, oh I don't know. make an
offer. What's memory going for these days? $150 a meg? u.t.m.
Buy both and really rip, err, save.

10 SIMMS for Macintosh. 256K from Mac Pluses.
So I upgraded all these Mac+s to 2.5 megs, and now I have all these
SIMMS lying around. 256K Mostly 100 and 120 nanosecond, so, some
could be used in a MAC-II that needs more memory. Or buy one of
those mac+ memory upgrade kits and use these simms.
What, $35 a SIMM? Buy a bunch, make a deal, hey, take 'em all.
	l.m.a.d. (let's make...)

1 Digiboard Com/8I Intelligent 8 port Serial Card.
This is a state-of-the-art sort of smart 8 port card for an AT.
I used these things with XENIX very successfully. Basically,
the card has an 80188 on it, and does all the I/O and your CPU
take no interrupt hits per character. It's the sort of thing
that if you know what it is, you'll grab it, so somebody take
it. these things are about 1K new, this one is new, but I'll
take a lot less than 1K seeing as I don't need the spare.
These are considered by some to be the most reliable smart boards
around, and could well be. Comes with Octypus style cable that
make a nice cat-o-8-tails if you're into that sort of thing.

1 WySE 995 Intelligent 8 port serial card.
This is for a Wyse-286 or 386, but might work in other systems.
It comes with drivers for XENIX, and some DOS Diags, and .SYS
files, and well, I don't need it, so somebody please buy it.
$750 or so as I remember, so less than that. Hey, make my day.

1 AT&T 6300 PC with 640K Memory and 20meg Hard Disk.
AT&T PC, with hard drive, monochrome monitor, and floppy drive.
What can I tell you? It's a PC, I don't need it, and I'll sell
it to you cheap. Today's the 4th of July. The faster it goes
away, the happier I'll be. So let's make a deal.

A few 2400 baud modems.
Hayes compatible, metal cases (good heat sink, good rfi
shield). These are Ventel and they work well. MNP Error
	correction. Let's Deal.

1 Motorola System 8000 computer System.
68020 with MMU, FPU, and 6 meg memory. 8 serial ports + 2
	console ports. 2 80 meg hard drives, 1 floppy, 1 1/4" tape
drive. Runs System 5.2. Includes full manual set and genuine
Motorola Distribution Tapes. 16 User Kernel. VT-220 console
terminal. I use it as a uucp node, but 386s are smaller. Make
an offer, It's probably worth a few K at least.

1 Tandy model 101 laptop computer.
Suprisingly useful computer. Comes with manuals, phone
coupler cord, and acoustic coupler. I will even throw in
cables to connect it to your favorite PC or Mac (including
a null modem if needed.). I see them on sale for $400 at
times, but you get a case (holds computer, coupler,
transformer, cables, and manuals), so it's pretty loaded.
1 3.5 inch disk drive for a Tandy-101 laptop.
Yes, I got the 3.5 inch drive for it too. Works very nicely.
let's you archive stuff. Cost $200. make an offer.
runs on batteries (AA) or 6V transformer (Radio Shack).

Well, I think that's mostly it. I have an old Fujitsu DX-2100 printer
that works pretty well, but is sometimes a little flaky until it warms
up, that I'd give away for some token amount. And I have a box of
RS-232 cables and connectors I'm sick of looking at.

				Terms

I live in Boston, and will ship COD to other places. Of course if you
live near here, and will pick it up or have a friend pick it up, I'll
knock something extra off since I won't have to go to UPS. Basically
I just wanna keep this simple. I'm moving soon and would like to get
rid of this stuff by the middle of August at the latest. Certified or
Bank Checks are fine in lieu of cash.

I am also willing to trade some of this stuff for Macintoshes or Mac
Software, Scanners, Hard Drives, etc. So if you're into Mac stuff,
deal away...

My home number is (617) 484-4287 (8-11pm EDT) and work is (617)
491-6935 (daytime). Call me, and we can work something out. Leave a
message if I'm not around. I really don't want to move this stuff,
please don't be bashful.

Marty
