apparently both Everex and SCO have patches available which will
allow xenix 286 to run with the hercules clone card.
thanks to all who helped out with this problem!

I too had installation problems with installing 286 Xenix for an HP EGA (IBM compatible?) based 286 PC. The SCO Xenix patch did not work either.
