Hello to all of you out there. I hope this is the right place to talk about my problem. I'm running SCO XENIX 2.3.2 on an 386 style AT with a clock speed of 25Mhz. Actually all goes well until the machine tries to load the programs on the card with the "dload" command. I always get the answer "heartbeat dead, restarting". I recognized, that if I turn off the Cache Controller everything works fine, even the dload command runs without any problems. But using a 386 without a Cache Controller is like driving a Porsche without the 5th gear. My computer dealer told me, that the computer was to fast for my card and that he had the same problems with an IntelliPort Multi SIO card. He solved the problem by changing his BIOS set to an AMI Compaq compatible BIOS. The SIO driver of the IntelliPort card is looking in the BIOS whether you are using a Compaq and turns the Cache before initialization of the card, off and afterwards again on. I tried it but that still didn't solve my problems. So does anybody know, whether there is another way of getting my card to work ? And does the problem really lie in the speed rating of my machine ? Thanx for all of your help. -Immanuel -- Immanuel Bloch E-Mail: | Robinson Crusoe | Trigon Chemie GmbH ..!uunet!unido!trigon!immi | was the only person | 6490 Schluechtern immi@trigon.UUCP | who got all his work | West Germany | done by Friday |
