I need some help with a xenix to IBM mainframe communication problem.
This is for someone else who is not on the network.
Please email responses.
The people involved are trying to establish communication from a Xenix system
to an IBM mainframe running MVS/XA.
They are using the Unipath communications package to provide 3270 emulation.
They have tried both Hayes and Codex modems without success.
The characteristic of the problem is that they get the modem line open
(i.e. they get carrier established), but no communication happens between the
two computers.
They have talked to SCO (Xenix suppliers) who have made some suggestions, but
none of them have made any difference.
Generally each response from SCO takes several days so this is a very slow
and frustrating process.
If you have any experience in this area, especially with the Unipath software,
please let me know.
If you can provide your phone number I will pass it on to the people doing the
work on the Xenix system.
