I am trying to help a company with the following problem: HARDWARE: ALTOS 586, 320 RAM, 30 MEG root drive, 40 MEG add-on 1/4" tape drive SOFTWARE: Xenix 2.5a SMC Business Basic III - don't know level or release Recently, there as a hard disk failure. Once the disk was replaced, reformatted, etc, the 30 MEG drive was restored from a level 0 dump tape. Everything restored as expected, EXCEPT a V-E-R-Y large (3.5 meg) file that is used by just about every file in their accounting system. All that I can tell about the file is that the indices don't seem to match the records, and random fields appear to be missing. I am interested in pointers to solutions to fix the problem myself or to experienced individuals who would be willing to help on a consulting basis. Since this is a problem on old hardware with an outdated version of XENIX, e-mail would probably be the best way to respond. Thanks for your suggestions. -- later--rebec ------------ Rebecca Chappell (804)671-7413 Pioneer Title rebec@xanth.cs.odu.edu Virginia Beach, VA USA rebec@xanth.UUCP
