[comp.unix.xenix] Monitor update

jct@jct.UUCP (jct) (07/06/89)

For those that remember ... A few weeks ago, a little over 3, I offered to
post to comp.sources.unix my monitor program. I have tried sending test mail
to uunet!sources to verify my connection. I've gotten no response to 2
messages I've sent. No bounce, no nothing. Is it normal that it takes this
long? I realize that people have real jobs! Does anyone have any experience
with the time frames involved when sending to uunet!sources? Would there be
anything "wrong" with posting the sources directly to comp.unix.xenix? Help!
I'm in a technical desert (Oklahoma) and don't know what to try next!

Aren't you supposed to send sources you want to contribute directly
to Rich Salz?

From the end of each article posted in comp.sources.unix:

Please send comp.sources.unix-related mail to rsalz@uunet.uu.net.
Use a domain-based address or give alternate paths, or you may lose out.

I was following "rules" submitted by Rich Salz, May 30, 1989 to
comp.sources.unix titled "Introduction to comp.sources.unix". There is a
section titled "Subject: Submitting source for publication" in which it states
you should send to uunet!sources. If it works better to send to
rsalz@uunet.uu.net, I'll try that. However, as I have humbly :-) explained
before I don't have disk space for all the fancy stuff -> maps, domain
addresses ...

I notice Mr. Conner is on my escape hatch to the real world, occrsh. Maybe
you would like to help me out? :-)

It typically takes several weeks to get through the comp.sources.unix queue.
I for one would not mind seeing the stuff posted here. Alternatively,
you could also post it to alt.sources.

My experience is like yours, except most of my stuff eventually showed
up. You may want to send to comp.sources.misc (allbery@uunet) instead.
Turnaround in that group seems much faster.

Hello again! I've received a couple of queries about getting missing parts
to the monitor program I posted a while back. Unfortunately, I erased the
'parts' after I posted, but I still have the files. I don't know what files
were even in each 'part'. So unless someone else reposts the missing parts,
I would need a list of the missing files before I can help.

Another thing, don't take this TOO personal, its both :-) and :-(. I know
from mail I received before I posted the source that there are several people
who wanted to work on a 386 version but I have not received 1 diff other
than the one that was posted (which deserves an atta-boy!). Come'on folks,
lets not be selfish! :-) I GAVE you monitor for nothing but a warm fuzzy
feeling. Help others out also!

And in closing ..., I have given up on posting to comp.sources.unix, I am
currently working on comp.sources.misc (with rearranged 'parts') for anyone
who can't get the complete comp.unix.xenix posting.
