since our modems (HST) do error correction we'd like to use f or x protocol, but since uucico selects the protocol depending on the device we don't know what to do. any hints ? -- Heiko Blume,Seekorso 29,D-1000 Berlin 22,VOICE=(+49 30)365 55 71,BBS=()365 75 01 TELEX=184174 intro d,FAX=()882 50 65|ARPA =crash!pnet01!pro-cess!blume@nosc.mil PSI =PSI%45300043109::netmbx:blume |BITNET=pro-cess.UUCP!blume@PSUVAX1 UUCP =blume@netmbx.UUCP |INET =blume@pro-cess.cts.com

so... the xenix uucico simply doesnt have the f protocol. i would like to know why sco removed it from the HDB sources. the hardware flow control still doesnt work, so that the x protocol is unusable at high speeds. the patch that was made available simply doesnt do its job. well, if sco won't get better i'll switch to interactive for a real unix. -- Heiko Blume,Seekorso 29,D-1000 Berlin 22,VOICE=(+49 30)365 55 71,BBS=()365 75 01 TELEX=184174 intro d,FAX=()882 50 65|ARPA =crash!pnet01!pro-cess!blume@nosc.mil PSI =PSI%45300043109::netmbx:blume |BITNET=pro-cess.UUCP!blume@PSUVAX1 UUCP =blume@netmbx.UUCP |INET =blume@pro-cess.cts.com

I don't think "mainline" HDB ever had f protocol. Ours doesn't (386ix / 1.0.6 HDB). Too bad. Too bad that HDB doesn't have loadable protocols (ala the new Dialers files) too. Blame AT&T not SCO. "f" protocol is/was a PD add-on to BSD UUCP and was distributed *in* BSD 4.3 UUCP and its derivitives. Never seen it anywhere else. -- Chris Lewis, R.H.
