I've recently seen comments (think t'was here :-) about the 80 Mb ST-4096 playing up for some people when they tried to format it as an RLL drive. I have a 42 Mb ST4053 - sortof the 4096's little brother - as the main drive in my Xenix-286 box. Can anyone offer me a simple answer as to experience/other on using the 4053 with RLL? My current MFM controller is giving me a 1:2 interleave (when I tried 1:1 I got a throughput of around 27 kbytes/sec or thereabouts) and I'm considering changing to a 1:1, RLL controller. The CPU's a 12 MHz '286 running on a zero-wait-state motherboard, so I'm reasonably sure it's not going to get left too far behind in the rush :-) and my second drive is a Fuji 30 Mb RLL drive that's currently setup as MFM (20 Mb) Many thanks for any responses! _______________________________________________________________________________ David Burren (Athos), ACSnet: athos@otto.rmit.oz.au Survey Computing Consultants, Hawthorn, Vic.
