[comp.unix.xenix] trailblazer and xenix

phil@lgnp1.LS.COM (Phil Eschallier) (11/15/89)

hey out there ...

i have a problem that i hope someone can help out with -- i am running a
'286 box with a standard com port (com1) with a trailblazer+ on it. i can
not get the system to answer at PEP speed.

i am running xenix 2.3.2 for the '286 -- when i was running 2.2.x, all worked
well!! i was forced to use 9600 rather than 19200 probably because of the
the standard port not being able to handle 19200 baud.

anyway, i can call out and connect with no problem at any speed and when
folks call here, it will connect and work well if the modem is not in PEP
mode -- but on a fast connect, no one can get in!! the modem answers at
fast speed then does nothing!! i have tried every combination of flow control/
no flow control and locking/unlocking the port -- help.
remember, this worked great until i "upgraded" the software.

my questions are -- has anyone using a '286 got this to work with 2.3.2??
can i use cts/fts flow control or do i need special hardware?? what do i
do??

please do no suggest i buy a smart i/o board as i realize that would be
nice but not feasable now.

thanx for any help.

phil
