[comp.unix.xenix] terminal beeps

goer@sophist.uucp (Richard Goerwitz) (12/02/89)

Perhaps this is a silly question, but what is the reason for
the beep I so often hear when escape sequences are sent via
a serial line to my Xenix system while running vi. I notice
this mainly when using the arrow keys, and I find it annoying.
The speed of the line doesn't seem to affect things, although
I have not dipped down as low as 1200 baud (if that's the solu-
tion, I'd rather have the problem).
