[comp.unix.xenix] IBM 3270 Coax Connected Card - Drivers/Software For...

steve@vlink01.UUCP (1770 MCI) (11/27/89)

I would like to know if anyone can help me. I presently have Xenix
running on a 386 with a Dos part. In order to run (use) the IBM 3270
Board in my pc now, I have to boot up Dos and run an IBM 3270 Emulation
Package. It allows connection to the IBM world, downloads $IND File
Transfers etc.

I am looking for software, or drivers that will address the board and let
me do the same type of work I am presently doing.

Please. Can anyone help me with this? Please send email to:
osu-cis!vlink01!steve

Thanks.

Steve

Because the 3270 card you have is single-user, no company has made a product
for it for multi-user systems. IT is not very marketable. So it is
unfortunately unusable under Unix/Xenix except under a Dos emulator.

Lots of companies, (mine included) make cards for 3270 under Unix and Xenix,
as well as Dos. These are multi-user implementations that replace the 3174 or
3274 you connect to. Ours has IND$FILE File Transfer and HLLAPI.

Now, our cards can't be used for both Dos and Unix at the same time. And I
don't expect other companies to have this either. You could keep your
3270 card, and use it under Dos, while you had another card for
Unix/Xenix. So it would probably be best to look for a happy PC home for
your card.
