[comp.unix.xenix] dos partition > 32mb & SCO Xenix

This may be an impossible mission but I would appreciate any help with the
following problem.

I would like to be able to configure my 386 machine with two partions.

First, I would like to have a large (ie. greater than 32m) dos partition,
second, I would like to use the remainder of my disk for SCO Xenix.

I have tried a couple of different approaches. I have tried setting up
a 32m dos parttion using dos 3.3 and then creating an extended dos partition
of 64m which I formatted as two logical disks. However when the SCO install
procedure tries to create the xenix partition using fdisk it fails because it
sees all the remaining disk as an unknown partition which cannot
be removed by the xenix fdisk. In addition this mystery partition is not shown
by the dos fdisk program.

I was told by the tech support folks at SCO that SCO xenix did not support
a disk with an extended dos partition.

A second approach that I have tried is to create one dos 4.1 primary dos
partition and then put down the xenix partition.
When I try to do this the fdisk procedure will successfully create
the xenix partition but reports that it cannot find the device when I try
to quit fdisk and begin the bad track scan.

Any assistance with this problem would be greatly appreciated. You can e-mail
me and I will post a summary if I can find a solution that works.
