I thank those who responded to my query about vi and incessant beeping on my terminal. The answer was that, since vi has to bypass the termcap library (which intercepts escapes), and has to guess whether a given escape is part of a cursor control se- quence or a just a plain ESC, it can get confused at times and under certain circumstances. In my case, this tended to happen after repeated or rapid key presses. My query now regards the Xenix development system. What is going to happen to all of the development systems everyone has installed as they move from Xenix to various flavors of Unix? If anyone has an older version they are not going to use, I would certainly like to purchase it. -Richard L.
