[comp.unix.xenix] logging in 7bit vs 8bit

steve@vlink01.UUCP (1770 MCI) (01/07/90)

I hope someone can help me. I am running Xenix 386. I am calling into
a local number which has a microm data switch. I was given the L.sys
setup as follows:
xxxxxx Any ACE 2400 xxx-xxxx ""\r\c Name? xxxxx nected \c GO \d\r\d\r\d\r
in:--in:--in: xxxxx word: xxxxx

I cannot make contact. I have talked with the administrator and he told me
that everyone is running unix not xenix and couldn't help me. I found out
if I call into the switch (using a comm package) using 8 bit no parity and
get to the nected part and change to 7 bit and even parity it works. I
don't know how to change my system to accomodate this. I don't have any
problems with any other machine.

They have a number 9.6 Telebit line which I can use, but I don't want to
take valuable time away from the 9.6 people running at 2400 baud.

The L.sys for the 9.6 line is as follows:

xxxxxx Any ACU 19200 xxxxxx in:--in--in: xxxx word: xxxx

If _any one can help me_ I would appreciate it very very much.

Thanks in advance.
