We are experiencing an intermittent problem with either HDB UUCP or our Hayes 2400 external modem connected to a Wyse 3216 running SCO Xenix 2.3.1. What is happening is that UUCP is dialing out to a site(s), actually connects modem to modem, but the response code that shows up is only a partial CONNEC message, thus UUCP does not think a connection has been made. Here is a sample of the session done with uutry: mchFind called (xxxxxx) fillFlds: entered fillFlds: returning conn(xxxxxx) Device Type ACU wanted mlock tty1A succeeded gdial(hayes2400) called expect: ("") got it sendthem (ATQ0E0T&D3&C1S0=0X4S2-042^M) expect: (OK^M) ^M^JOK&Mgot it sendthem (ATDT1111111^M) expect: (Speed) ^J^M^JCONNE^M^J^M^Jxxxxxx!login: ^@ (here I have to turn the modem off!) (once I turn it off, UUCP does it's retry and the following occurs) mlock tty1A succeeded gidal(hayes2400) called expect: ("") got it send them (ATQ0E0T&D3&C1S0=0X4S2=043^M) expect: (OK^M) ^M^JOK^Mgot it sendthem (ATDT1111111^M) expect: (Speed) ^J^M^JCONNECT 2400got it getto ret 5 send them (^M) expect: (gin:) ^M^J^M^Jxxxxxx!login:got it send them (xxxxx^M) (After this everything is fine and dandy!) .. I know this has to be something relatively simple, but I have spent many hours on this problem now (including replacing modems, serial cards, etc.) to no avail. If anyone can see anything obvious, please assist with this problem. Any replies would be appreciated. thanks in advance. .. -- .. Computer Consulting Service .. Bob Willey, CDP .. .. P.O. I suggest that the flow control is stumbling and losing part of the CONNECT message. -- <- David Herron; an MMDF guy <david@ms.uky.edu> <- ska: David le casse\*' {rutgers, uunet}!ukma!david, david@UKMA.BITNET <- <- New official address: attmail!sparsdev!dsh@attunix.att.com
