hM>From: heneghan@cbnewsd.ATT.COM (joseph.t.heneghan) hM>Subj: Question on installing modem on Xenix 386 hM>Orga: AT&T Bell Laboratories hM>I have installed modems on Unix V 3b2s and 386s. I'm trying to hM>install a Hayes 2400 on a Computone Ports Board, which is on a hM>Compaq 386 running Xenix. I used the computone install script hM>which gives me tty00 through tty07. However, the SCO manual hM>speeks of tty1[a-h] and tty2[a-h]. I set up my Devices file hM>to use a Hayes 2400 running at 1200 baud. After "cu -l/dev/tty05" hM>I get a message ~ "ACU not found". If anyone has some experience hM>with installing modems on SCO Xenix. Please respond. It's been a while since I used Computone boards, but as I recall, the ones I've seen created devices /dev/ttyX01 to /dev/ttyX07, where X is either an i,m, or p. I may be wromg about this, because it has been a while, but the "i" devices were the non-modem control, like /dev/tty1a, the "m" devices were modem control (/dev/tty1A), and the "p" devices were for transparent printing. If you would post the line you are having troubles with, you would be able to get more help on the matter. Mark --- ~ DeLuxe 1.11a18 #3019 ~ QNet 2.04a:NorthAmeriNet: Sound Advice BBS ~ Gladstone ~ MO
