[comp.unix.xenix] A really GOOD backup program

dt@mathcs.emory.edu (Dave Taylor {guest}) (02/13/90)

I am looking for a really good backup utility that is very easy to use,
as little or no maintenance, and has the following features:

	1) Catalog of files backed up for easy point and shoot restores
	2) Incrementals with multiple save sets per volume
	     -or- multiple filesystems per tape.
	3) Data validation with error reporting on backup
	4) Runs under XENIX
	5) Is relatively inexpensive (could go as high as $250 if it's hot)
            - however - we would prefer a site licence for $1000 or so...

Senario 1: Bob deletes a vital file and runs the restore program. The
program comes up with a list of all the dates this file was
backed up. Bob then selects the appropriate file and it says
"Enter tape 13", he does and poof... his files are back.

To put it in a nutshell, we are looking for something like a XENIX version
of the TakeTwo program in DOS.

We are currently using bru by Enhanced Software Technologies, but just aren't
satisfied by what we are getting.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.
