[comp.unix.xenix] Fortran under SCO XENIX?

dooley@physics.utoronto.ca (Kevin Dooley) (02/15/90)

Hello,
I am in need of a fortran compiler for a 386 SCO XENIX system.
Can anybody suggest a solid and rlatively bug freecompiler which
is at least f77 compliant or, better yet, impliments the VAX fortran
extensions? Please e-mail responses to me as I don't read this
group often.

I'm running SCO Xenix 386 2.3 and am playing with the Unix f77 based
fortran-to-C converter which is available from netlib@research.att.com.
Looking at the code, it looks more like a *real product* than a toy
compiler, and seems to perform quite well, is free in source-code form
and is constantly updated. Mail the message 'send index from f2c' to
netlib@research.att.com for more info.

SCO will sell you LPI-Fortran if you ask. Me, I'll take a free compiler
in source form any day.
