My experience with Unix is very supervisual. Most programming work I've done so far has been on DOS machines. I might be using Unix (on a 386 machine) for an upcoming project though. The project will involve a lot of serial communication by modem. That is why I like find out more about serial communications under Unix. I could not locate much usefull information about the subject in the Unix manuals, but that is probably my fault. I want to know how serial communications works from a software (i.e. C) perspective, how much control the program has over the serial port (modem status lines on RS-232 for instance) and how much support I get from standard Unix libraries/utilities for serial communications. Anybody who can point me in the wright direction, or who can tell me where I should look, for information regarding the subject, please do so. Oscar van der Meer UUCP:omeer@neabbs.nl
