[comp.unix.xenix] Cross compiling kermit for Messy-dos

campbell@Thalatta.COM (Bill Campbell) (05/02/90)

I have been trying to compile Kermit-ms on my Xenix system, but ran into
a stone wall since it is mostly written for the MS-DOS Macro Assembler.

The documentation on cc for Xenix indicates that I should be able to
assemble files with .s suffixes to create .o object files, but this
doesn't work. The compiler generates '/bin/as -o tmp.o tmp.s' then says
'cannot open input file: tmp.o'.

When I try the Xenix Macro Assembler, the computer gets severe heartburn
and doesn't get anywhere useful.

Is there a way to assemble this code on a Xenix system without having
to buy the MS-DOS MASM?
